About
After owning 8 stores, Mt. Pleasant, SC was Calvert Retail’s 9th location in a new market. Recognizing the need to keep up with the sleek look of competitors like Williams Sonoma, the company CEO and I worked closely together to recreate a look that remained true to the original stores, but focused on a fresh, bright, and clean shopping experience for guests.
This included reconfiguring the barbecue section, putting a brighter focus on the 120-foot gadget wall, creating a brighter and more functional kitchen space for demonstrations, and making displays cleaner.
My main focuses during this phase were in overall design, execution of display elements being ordered and installed correctly, coordinating our grand opening efforts such as gift card giveaway, Chamber of Commerce involvement, press releases, vendor coordination and involvement (cooking demonstrations and free product for giveaways), and interviews while being based out of Delaware.
Prior to opening, I also coordinated multiple direct mail pieces regarding our job fair and opening announcements.
In addition, while opening, I was also available as an additional staff member if needed to handle register transactions and answer questions regarding products.
Design Elements
Every graphic element in this store was designed and product-sourced by me. From vinyl elements to endcaps and placement, banners, and in-store print materials and color palettes was how I worked on this project directly with the CEO to make his vision come to life.
